NTHU Course Planning Strategy & Academic Regulations

All Courses Require Manual Registration

⚠️ Please Note: NTHU implements a self-directed course selection system. Regardless of whether a course is mandatory (required) or elective, NO courses are pre-registered or automatically added to your timetable by the university. You must manually register for every single class online within the designated periods.
⚠️ Critical Reminder: Enroll in Mandatory Courses in Their Appointed Semesters

The enrollment capacity for mandatory courses is strictly budgeted based on the headcount of freshmen in that specific academic year. Although returning students can select courses earlier (in June), NTHU implements a "Freshmen Quota Reservation" or "Freshmen Only restriction" on first-year mandatory classes to protect your rights.

If you fail to take a required course during its designated semester and delay it to future years, you are highly likely to encounter severe consequences: courses hitting their maximum capacity, scheduling conflicts with advanced required courses, or failure to enroll, which will directly delay your graduation timeline.

Course Selection Strategy & Priority Ordering

🎯 Which Courses Should I Choose? How Do Departments Plan Curriculum?

Master your department's curriculum structure and mandatory/elective planning! Use our university administration systems and course scheduling tools below to map out your semester.

1. Verify Your Departmental Curriculum Requirements

Before using the registration systems, you must review the "Mandatory" and "Elective" course regulations specific to your department and entry year. Please consult the following official resources:

📌 ① Academic Information System (Your Course Scheduling Tool)

📌 ② Division of Registration Announcements (Official Graduation Mandates)

📌 ③ Departmental Websites & Offices

2. Enrollment Execution Strategy

Step 1 — Prioritize enrolling in your department's designated mandatory courses for the current semester.
Step 2 — Allocate remaining credit capacity to electives, and General Education (GE) courses (for Undergraduate students).
📌 Administrative Advice: Securing your departmentally planned mandatory credits semester-by-semester is the single most effective baseline strategy to guarantee an on-time graduation.

Get to Know NTHU's Digital Learning Platforms

🎯 Once You Successfully Secure a Course:
NTHU operates two core Learning Management Systems (LMS): eLearn and eeclass. Faculty members select their preferred platform independently. If your instructor activates their course site, all subsequent syllabus updates, course materials, announcements, assignment submissions, and online discussions will be hosted on that platform.

💡 Please note that some instructors may communicate via alternative channels. Always follow the explicit instructions provided by your professors during the first week of class.

💡 Technical Note: After the Add/Drop execution, the backend system requires technical processing time to batch-sync the enrollment database over to the digital learning systems. If a newly added course does not appear on eeclass or eLearn immediately, please allow a few hours for the automated synchronization cycles to refresh.
