Withdrawal Period
April 20, 2026, 12:00 PM – May 9, 2026, 9:00 AM
AIA Courses (Special Rules)
The withdrawal deadline for AIA-related courses must comply with the regulations set by the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence College Alliance (TAICA). (TBA)
⚠️ Important Policy Update
Starting from Spring 2026, course withdrawal will be completed once the course instructor approves the request online. Approval from your advisor is no longer required.
However, if withdrawing from a course results in an underload of credits, students must first submit an Underload Application. The application must be approved by both the advisor and the department chair before the course withdrawal procedure can proceed.
Apply
Apply Online
Use the Academic Information System to access the online application. You need to provide reasons for your withdrawal.

Cancel Request
Scenario 1: If the application is still being processed and the applicant wishes to cancel it, you may withdraw your application, but a reason is required.

Scenario 2: If the request has already been approved by the instructor (process complete):
- Send an email to curricul@my.nthu.edu.tw (no later than May 10)
- Subject: “Student ID XXXXXXX Withdrawal of Completed Course Withdrawal Application” and attach:
- Your email to the course instructor explaining your intention to continue the course.
- The instructor’s emails confirming their agreement for you to continue the course.
If you use the method described in “Scenario 2,” records of the withdrawal will still appear in your eform application history, the Academic Information System (“Course Withdrawal”), and “Course Selection → Course Status Inquiry.” (These are stored as text and cannot be modified.)
Once the Division of Curriculum has received your request, they will assist you in withdrawing the withdrawal record and updating it in “Grade Inquiry.” When you confirm there is no withdrawal record, the revocation is complete.
Review
Review
The instructor will review your application and decide whether to approve or reject it based on the provided information. In the Academic Information System: Select courses → eform → Application records, you can check the progress and results.

Daily Email Reminder
The eform system will send daily email reminders to instructors to keep them informed about pending applications.
Approval Notification
When a decision is made, you will receive an automatic notification. If approved, the process moves forward.
Drop Status
Once your course withdrawal is completed, the result will be reflected in the following systems:
- eForm – The instructor’s approval status is displayed immediately.
- Academic Information System (AIS) → “Course Registration” → “Course Enrollment Status” → “Course Withdrawal (Log Records)” – The withdrawal status, including “Withdrawal Time” and “Withdrawal IP,” is updated immediately.
- Grade Inquiry System / eeclass / eLearn—The withdrawal status will not be updated until the end of the Course Withdrawal Period.
👉 For example, in Spring 2026, the information on eeclass/eLearn and in the AIS Grade Inquiry System is expected to be updated on the morning of May 12 (Tuesday morning).
Fees/Credits
Credit Fee
There will be no refunds for courses dropped after the semester’s add-or-drop selection period.
Those credit fees will no longer apply to the sum of credits associated with your department’s required courses. No credit is earned for courses dropped after this period.
Minimum Credit Hour Requirement
There is no limit on how many courses a student may drop. However, undergraduate students should meet full-time students’ minimum credit hours. Graduate students need to enroll in at least one course.
Underload Application
If a student cannot meet the minimum credit hour requirement, an underload request may be submitted with approval from the advisor and department head.
Students who have fallen below their previous underload request should reapply from this semester onwards.
Students cannot submit a withdrawal request until the underload request has been approved.
Withdrawal Rules & Policy
Mid-term withdrawals are self-assessed by students based on learning situation and workload. The following are not valid reasons for requests after the deadline: “Grades announced close to or after the deadline,” or “unexpected quizzes after the deadline.”
Failure to attend classes or notify an instructor does not constitute an official withdrawal. Students who fail to properly withdraw by the deadlines will receive a failing grade.

Differences between Dropping and Withdrawing from a Course
Withdrawal from Another University
- If you're withdrawing from a course at another university, obtain permission from that university’s curriculum department. Complete all processes before the earliest deadline between the two schools.
- If the withdrawal deadline of the host university is earlier than that of NTHU (e.g., NCCU only accepts withdrawal applications until May 4), you must complete all required signatures and return the form to NTHU before the host university’s deadline.
- If the host university’s deadline is later than NTHU’s (e.g., NCNU or NYCU), you must still complete all signatures and return the form before NTHU’s withdrawal deadline.
