Apply Online

Use the Academic Information System to access the online application. You need to provide reasons for your withdrawal.

Online flow

Cancel Request

Scenario 1: If the application is still being processed and the applicant wishes to cancel it — you may withdraw your application, but a reason is required.

Cancel in system

Provide reason

Scenario 2: If the request has already been approved by both the instructor and the advisor (process complete):

  1. Send an email to curricul@my.nthu.edu.tw (no later than May 5th)
  2. Subject: “Student ID XXXXXXX Withdrawal of Completed Course Withdrawal Application” and attach:
    • Your email to the course instructor and advisor explaining your intention to continue the course.
    • The instructor’s and advisor’s emails confirming their agreement for you to continue the course.

If you use the method described in “Scenario 3,” records of the withdrawal will still appear in your eform application history, the School Information System (“Course Withdrawal”), and “Course Selection → Course Status Inquiry.” (These are stored as text and cannot be modified.)

Once the Division of Curriculum has received your request, they will assist you in withdrawing the withdrawal record and updating it in “Grade Inquiry.” When you confirm there is no withdrawal record, the revocation is complete.

Daily Email Reminder

The eform system will send daily email reminders to both instructors and advisers to keep them informed about pending applications.

Approval Notification

When a decision is made, you will receive an automatic notification. If approved, the process moves forward.

Drop/Status

Course Drop

If both the instructor and adviser approve your request, the course will be dropped from your schedule. The transcript will show a grade of “W”.

Please allow time for instructors to evaluate your request.

Drop Status

Your Grade Announcement / eeclass / Elearn System won’t update your drop status until the end of the Course Withdrawal Period.

Fees/Credits

Credit Fee

There will be no refunds for courses dropped after the semester’s add-or-drop selection period.

Those credit fees will no longer apply to the sum of credits associated with your department’s required courses. No credit is earned for courses dropped after this period.

Minimum Credit Hour Requirement

There is no limit on how many courses a student may drop. However, undergraduate students should meet full-time students’ minimum credit hours. Graduate students need to enroll in at least one course.

Underload Application

If a student cannot meet the minimum credit hour requirement, an underload request may be submitted with approval from the advisor and department head.

Students who have fallen below their previous underload request from this semester onwards should reapply.

Students cannot submit a withdrawal request until the underload request has been approved.

Withdrawal Rules & Policy

Mid-term withdrawals are self-assessed by students based on learning situation and workload. The following are not valid reasons for requests after the deadline: “Grades announced close to or after the deadline,” or “unexpected quizzes after the deadline.”

Failure to attend classes or notify an instructor does not constitute an official withdrawal. Students who fail to properly withdraw by the deadlines will receive a failing grade.
