Special Regulations for Summer Calculus/General Physics/Chemistry Department-Related Courses/General Education Courses
If you wish to take calculus at our school during the summer or take general physics, chemistry-related courses (such as general chemistry), or general education courses at another school, you must separately follow the regulations below:
Calculus
Eligibility for summer calculus courses is limited to the following two conditions and only applies to calculus courses offered by Tsing Hua University. Summer courses at other schools are not permitted. (Based on the minutes of the first Mathematics Department meeting of the second semester of the 111th academic year, effective from the summer of the 111th academic year [2023].)
- Limited to students who have a record of taking the course in the previous or following semester and failed it. (Dropping a course does not count as failing; failing a summer course does not count either, as it is not taken in the previous or following semester.)
- Students with special needs and approval from the Chair of the Mathematics Department.
General Chemistry and Other Required or Professional Elective Courses Offered by the Chemistry Department
Here are the Chemistry Department’s summer course regulations:
Only a few summer courses offered by other schools are approved by our department. Summer course applications must undergo strict review by the Chemistry Department’s Curriculum Committee and must align with our department’s course syllabus to be approved.
- In the blank section of the inter-university course selection application form, indicate the academic year and semester in which the course was previously taken, along with the grade.
- In addition to the signatures of the advisor and the chair of the student’s home department, approval and signatures from the Chemistry Department are also required.
- The application must follow the Chemistry Department’s application process.
(Please divide the application form into sections as shown in the example below.)
