Thesis Research

1. What is “Thesis Research”?

Starting from Academic Year 111, the master’s program “Thesis” has been adjusted to align with the doctoral program and renamed “Thesis Research” (0 credits) (Master’s in-service programs are excluded).

2. When should it be taken?

According to department regulations,
typically starting from the 2nd or 3rd academic year, every semester until graduation.

3. Do I need to register myself?

No registration is required.

The course selection system will automatically add “Thesis Research” for eligible students after the Add-or-Drop period.

4. How to confirm if it has been added?

After the Add-or-Drop period, go to:

Academic Information System → Grade Inquiry

Check whether “Thesis Research” has been added to your schedule.

5. If I haven’t reached the required year but want to take it early?

  1. Obtain approval from your thesis advisor
  2. Submit an application to your department office
  3. Enrollment is permitted only after departmental approval

6. Credits and Fees

  • Regular master’s and doctoral programs: 0 credits, no fees
  • Some master’s in-service programs may assign 2 credits; fees depend on individual program regulations

7. Grade Records

  • While enrolled, the system will display “Grade Not Yet Available”
  • If only “Thesis Research” is taken in a semester, the transcript will indicate “Only Thesis Research Taken This Semester”
  • After the thesis defense and graduation procedures, the Registrar’s Office will record the thesis grade (degree examination grade)
