  • Explain the rules for student use of AI. (Contact point for this matter: Tonny Kuo, Postdoctoral Research Fellow; Email: tonny@gapp.nthu.edu.tw)

Please Note

  • Once you have published the course syllabus, please think carefully before making any significant changes to the course. (especially in relation to grading)
  • If there are pre-requisites for courses, there should be enrollment restrictions or a clear indication of the necessary pre-requisites in the course syllabus.
  • Please state in the course syllabus if withdrawal from the course is unacceptable.
  • A student's attendance grade for a course in a given semester may not be deducted if the student has previously obtained the instructor's approval for official leave, personal leave, and sick leave, and the cumulative hours of leave do not exceed 25% of the total number of hours for that course. Where necessary, teachers may make course-specific rules, which shall take precedence, but shall be specified in the course syllabus. ( Academic Regulations of Tsing Hua University (Article 32)
  • The "National Tsing Hua University Regulations for Student Leave of Absence", established by the Division of Student Assistance under the Office of Student Affairs, have been approved and implemented starting from the 2024 academic year. These regulations specify eight types of student leave: personal leave, sick leave, psychological leave, menstrual leave, bereavement leave, maternity leave, indigenous ritual leave, and official leave. For the complete policy, please visit this link.

Article 4 of the regulations states that students are not allowed to take leave during midterm or final examinations. Exceptions are granted only for the following reasons: official duties, emergencies due to illness, childbirth, the death of a close relative, or unforeseen circumstances beyond the individual's control. In such cases, students must provide supporting documents and obtain the instructor's approval. If the instructor has additional rules, those rules will take precedence.

Instructors with specific course-related leave requirements should clearly include them in their course syllabus.

Reference Example

Please refer to the course outlines for the following courses, which, in addition to stating the course objectives, content, reference materials, schedule, and rules for the use of AI, also provide detailed explanations of grading and regulations related to absences.
